TEAM
The planting of a new fellowship involves a lot of people, serving and praying for the work of building a new community. We are currently growing that team as we seek to give people an opportunity to serve in their areas of giftedness.
An important part of this process has also been in the calling of a church-planting couple from our sister denomination in the United States.
Bonnie & Eric Sparrman
Bonnie and Eric moved to Sweden from the United States in early 2023 to partner with Västerkyrkan in the establishment of an English-speaking fellowship. Both have deep Scandinavian roots and previously studied in Sweden.
Eric has been a pastor and church-planter with the Evangelical Covenant denomination in the U.S. his entire adult life. He holds a master’s degree from North Park Theological Seminary in Chicago, and a doctorate from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in Charlotte, North Carolina, where his thesis focused on Christian leadership for evangelism.
Bonnie was educated as a registered nurse but has also followed her passion for cooking to become a culinary instructor and corporate teambuilder. She is the author of five books (see Amazon) that have devotional or health-related themes. Bonnie’s writing is a natural blend of her education, experience, and faith journey.
Together, the Sparrmans have been married for over 40 years, have three adult children – two sons and a daughter (plus two spouses) living in the U.S., and one adopted-by-affection former exchange student daughter in Germany (and her husband).
Bonnie and Eric are passionate about helping people move towards faith in Jesus Christ. Church planting is also dear to their hearts and they see generous hospitality as central to the life of gathering authentic Christian fellowship.
